Union Budget 2026: Allocations to Ministries in graphics

A total outlay of over ₹50 lakh crore for all Ministries was given in the 2026-27 Union Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament today. Here is how each Ministry’s allocations shaped up.

Looking at allocations, the Ministry of Finance took the largest share, as per the norm and interest payments were the largest chunk within the Ministry of Finance. It received around ₹19.72 lakh crores, or 36.89% of all allocations. The Ministry of Defence was allocated ₹7.8 lakh crores or 14.67%.

The smallest Ministry in terms of allocation is that of Parliamentary Affairs – getting around 68 crores and 0.001% of the total outlay.

Projects like the seven rail corridors planned to connect major cities across India are part of allocations related to transport. The Ministry of Railways received ₹2.81 lakh crores, of which ₹2.77 lakh crores fall under capital expenditure. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways received around ₹3.09 lakh crores.
